- Enthusiasm. Good leaders are enthusiastic about what they are doing. Enthusiasm is contagious. People want to be around someone who enjoys what they are doing and developing others.
- Self-confidence. To coach others successfully, you have to have confidence in yourself, believing that you know what you are doing and can offer guidance to others.
- Friendliness. To be a successful leader, you need to draw people to you. An unfriendly attitude will discourage others from seeking your help or meeting expectations.
- Consistency. Moodiness or up and down behavior on your part will throw everyone into a tailspin and sabotage your success. People need to know that you are consistent in your expectations of them as well as of yourself.
- Flexibility. Leaders do the right thing. They need to be flexible and use their judgment in making decisions and adapting their style to individuals and the situation.
- Action. For each of the team members, what job behavior works well? Tell them! What job behavior need improvement? Coach them!
